The following is a report on the water-supply of Sotag in June

One well ifnmediately south of the thana, 4 feet diameter and 4 feet
of water about 15 feet below the ground surface, quite unfit for use, and
so bad that camels refused to drink it.
Two wide nalas } running from north to south, are on either side of
Sotag. In that to the west under the left bank, close to the thana,
there were three pits, about 4 feet in diameter, with 1 foot of water close
to the surface. Water f.om this nala is drinkable, but slightly brackish,
and unpleasant to taste, though fit for camels. Plentiful supply may be
obtained by digging pits in this nala.
In the nala to the east, under the left bank and to the south of the
trade-route, there were four pits of about 3 feet diameter with 1 foot of
water close to the surface. 1 his is rain water, sunk into the bed of the
nala } and is good and sweet.
Grazing and fuel is plentiful in the vicinity of the thana. {Rose-

SUKALUK—
A camping-ground on the Nushki-Chagai route to Rudbar on the
Helmand. It is 13 mites from Robat and two stages (probably about 60
miles) to Rudbar. Galla Chah, on the Khwaja Ali route, lies some 10 miles
to the east.
There is a good camping-ground here on gravel and sand soil close
to the mouth of the Sukaluk ravine. No grass or fuel, and camel-grazing
Scanty.
Water abundant in three wells, about 4 feet square with a depth of i *
