In regard to less immediately necessary and more expensive stores I
agree but case of tents stands on entirely different footing. Without tents
Saiar Amjad cannot move and he proposes to move as soon as he receives
them. Tents have been asked for by him on payment, and according to
my information he has the cash with him and intends to pay on receipt. To
hold them up now as proposed would postpone movement on Khwash and
shake solidarity and create distrust. Saiar Amjad has been promised
tents and knows that Dennys has gene to Quetta to bring them. We have
every reason to hope he will pay cash, but even if he does not total cost in
volved is equal to about 3 days "of our annual expenditure in this tract and
it would therefore be highly uneconomical to prejudice for such an in
considerable sum the present favourable conditions. I am allowing deli
very of tents as already arranged to proceed as objections seem to be very
urgent
Foregoing is with reference to your telegram dated 24th January
