joined in with him. Those troops which had been sent by me to Lall Mahommed s assistance,
prior to the Akchah tight, had reached as far as ‘ Charbagh Goolshun/ 'fhese consisted of
four mule guns, 500 sowars, Afghans and Oosbegs, and a troop of regular cavalry known
as f Hushtdeh Nuhree p’ and a regiment of infantry, 200 strong, called the ‘ Toorkistanee
orderlies/ and 11 Dustehs of Jezailchees. When the news of the Akchah defeat reached me
(at Tukhtapool), and the capture of Lall Mahommed and the Agha became known, I lost all
reliance in the Toorkistanee troops, and recalled [from Charbagh Goolshun] the guns and
ammunition, halting the rest of the detachment.
“ On the 30th July General Daood Shah with four regiments reached Tukhtapool and
camped at f Cheyl Guzzee/ and I joined him with eight guns and ammunition. On the 31st at

tinued twohouis [two saats ] when the enemy gave way. A few of their cavalry were killed,
wounaed oi captured; the bulk of them dispersed; of the Jezailchees and their regular
infantry a few escaped, and a few were killed and wounded ; all the rest were taken prisoners.

Ishak, on his defeat, took refuge* in the fort of Akchah, and after

fresh force, by the 6th September he was known to be encamped with 1,000 men.
But his presence had no longer the effect of creating agitation in Toorkistan.
