Following from Commissioner in Sind : Captain Harrison, under date
27th August, reports that a large body of Seistan Belooch are said to be march
ing on Chaga and Nooshky. This is probably in retaliation for Sarfuraz Khan’s
recent attack on their border.

dated the 22nd of August 1871, I am instructed by His Excellency the Viceroy
and Governor General in Council to forward, for Your Excellency’s information,

Frontier, No. 1271 , dated 9th August 1871. conveying further particulars relative to tne
recent movements of the Persians on the south-western boundary of Seistan,
and also a copy of a telegram dated the 8th instant, from the Bombay Govern
ment, reporting that a large body of Seistan Belooch are said to be marching
on Chaga and Nooshky, in retaliation for the raid lately committed on their
border by Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Sarfuraz Khan.
2. Prom these papers Your Excellency will observe the urgent need there
is that the Seistan boundaries should be definitely settled as speedily as
possible.

Letter and Enclosures to HM Secretary of State for India, dated 17 October 1871, concerning Persian movements on Chaga [Chagai] and the Seistan [Sīstān] Boundary.

The papers cover: political intelligence; tribal movements; reports of raids; the possibility of a threat by Persia against the territory of Khelat [Kalāt], and northern and western Beloochistan [Baluchistan]; and the need for a speedy settlement of the Seistan boundary question.
