Most of the information contained in
this Report has already been communicated in
the various Diaries, etc., received throughout
the year.
All the Political Agents have the
same story to tell - that the year 1930 has
been one of the worst that British trade has
ever experienced. The Russians have improved
their trading position, and are likely to make
still further headway if the present Persian
restrictive laws remain in force; a system of
barter suits their trading methods.
Opium has again been selected by the
Persian Government for increased taxation.
They are said to be making no effort to reduce
poppy cultivation and it seems unlikely that
they will do so if they can obtain the

This volume contains copies of the annual 'Administration Reports of the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ' prepared by the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in Bushire and printed at the Government of India Press in New Delhi for the years 1926-1938.
These annual reports are divided up into a number of separate reports for different geographical areas, usually as follows:
- Administration Report for Bushire and Hinterland
- Administration Report of the Kerman and Bandar Abbas Consulates
- Administration Report for Fars
- Report on AIOC [Anglo-Iranian Oil Company] Southern Area
- Administration Report of the Kuwait Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent.
- Administration Report of the Bahrain Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent.
- Administration Report of the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates.
