Sheikh Junaid on about the 22nd May, and proceeded to Herat.
3. From the 10th to 19th May over 3,000 troops have passed Kaakha in trains
proceeding to Merv. A report from Merv states that troops are leaving that town
daily for Bokhara.
4. 350 Turkoman recruits passed Kaakha from Kizil Arvat and Askhabad
going east. Turkomans are still being forcibly enlisted and sent to Tashkent.
Their stocks are taken over by the Bolsheviks at prices fixed by local commissions.
5. Krasnovodsk, May 10th. —2,000 men are at work constructing a railway
from Jebel towards the Cheleken oil wells. It is hoped to have the line completed
by the 15th June.
Bokhara.
6. A son of a former Kush Begi, recently arrived in Meshed, states that in all
towns the Young Bokharan officials have been replaced by Bolsheviks, and that the
Young Bokharan Government ceases to exist. He further states that the rebels
are in great strength and command the province, except the towns situated on the
railway. The Bolshevik troops at these latter towns are kept busy defending the
places against the continual assaults made by the rebels.

The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
