THE PROMISES OE GENERAL SLASHCHEY.
Moscow, 25th. November 1921.—
General Slashchev and others have promulgated the following promises to
the officers and men of Wrangel’s army : “ Russian blood has been flowing
since 1918 in an internecine war. Everyone considers himself to be fighting
for the nation. Nevertheless, it has been proved that the Government
of the Whites is neither constituted nor supported by the nation. It was
defeated and fled to Constantinople.
The Soviet Government is the sole Government representing Russia and
her people.
I, Slashchev-Krimski, bid you, officers and men, to return to your
native land. Otherwise you will be acknowledged as the hirelings of foreign
capital—mercenaries, in opposition to your country and to the people of
whom you were born. Now, at any moment they can send you to gain
victories over Russian soil. They can certainly pay you for doing this yet
those vho send you on such errands will by so doing make the Russian nation
one of slaves.
That nation will then curse you.
Your employers are frightening you into the belief that those White
Guards who return will be overwhelmed by divers repressive measures. I
have left, full of confidence, and have been convinced that the past would
be forgotten. With me came General Milovski, Colonel Golbek, several other
officers, and my wife.
Now, as one of your former chiefs of the Volunteer Army I entreat
you—Eor my sake do not believe the gossip against Russia. Do not
dare to sell yourselves to go to war with Russia. I call on you to submit
to the Soviet Government for the defence of your native land and your
nation.”

Being of the same opinion as Slashchev and subscribing to his promises,
we in our turn pledge ourselves to all who know and trust us and we
entreat those who love their country to answer this call without the least
hesitation. 1

ul Arabi, a nephew of His Exalted Saiadic Holiness, Hazrat el Sheikh
Ahmad Elsanussi, is coming for a special visit to His Majesty the Amir. He
will soon arrive in Herat and go on to Kabul. He was received with fitting
honours on the Afghan frontier.

about the liberation of their Motherland.
(z>) They have formed an Association in Zano (Switzerland) under
the. chairmanship, of Amir Lutfulla, President of the National Assembly of
Syria and Palestine. They demand complete independence for Syria>
Lebanon, and Palestine, and self-government for the same.
