(in) The Naib Salar has forbidden the practice obtaining among Afghan
officers of being preceded by an orderly on foot when riding.
(iv) The Naib*ul-Hukumeh has ordered the Governor of Qala Nao,Mirza
Ghulam Haidar Khan, to return to Qala Nao from Panjdeh where he had gone
on an unknown mission.
(v) The party of Sappers which had gone to the frontier to build frontier
posts has returned to Herat owing to wintry conditions having put a temporary
stop to their work. They have completed two posts near Gulran and one at

(vi) A detachment of Khawanin horsemen has gone to Bala Murghab to
relieve the detachment there which will return to Herat.
(vii) An officer party has been detailed to take the pay of detachments to

The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
