The students have shown their sincerity to their King and country.
They prav for a safe return from Europe. They declare they will be of use
to their motherland when they have completed their modern education.
• u. The entertainment of Afghan officials at the Soviet Consulate at
Herat on the 4th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic.
The Consul met his guests outside the gates of the Consulate with every
manifestation of goodwill. Later, he delivered a short speech in which he
referred to the hearty friendship of the Soviet Government for all the
Islamic powers of the world, especially the exalted country of Afghanistan.
Muhammad Ismail Khan, Inspector General of Education in Herat, res
ponded for the guests, thanking the Soviet Government for its friendly
attitude towards their country.,

If Greece, he writes, is dependent upon European help, the Turkish
Nationalists are dependent upon their God.
Russia’s heart is burning because of the troubles of the Turks.
Germany’s heart, too, is pierced as with a lance by grief for her late ally.
To neither of these powers is the present plight of the Turks agreeable.
That plight is due to the League of Nations, in fact all the troubles of the
East are due to that institution. The source of unity of Eastern peoples is
religion and with that the Western nations have no concern. Easterns are
bent on securing freedom and they will not rest until they are free and have
won their rights.
Persia cannot be blamed because she does not help the Turks for the
forces of disunion in her midst are too strong for her.
Look at India, the Shamshir-i-Hind, whose sons, despite their political
weakness, are sacrificing their lives and property for the sake of the
Khilafat.
Convey to the Greeks that every Muhammadan soul will seek to take its
revenge.

Labourers of the Universe ! Unite! Read this message—have it read and
explained to those who cannot read!
Our brethren of the Red Army have with the utmost gallantry extir
pated the White Army and ejected from the soil of Turkestan the enemy
who had come from distant lands.
The Muslims of Turkestan have for long years laboured under the
despotic rule of kings and generals who have tyrannized over them.
that they have joined us and have come under our protection it behoves us to
treat them with brotherly affection and friendship.
The European powers and imperialists, namely, France and Englan ,
