An unmasking of the Machinations of Spies.
Radek discloses in the pages of “ Pravda” the activities of those spies of
of the Entente who are engaged in Berlin in the forging of documents.
Bandits who have been scattered here and there in Russia are beginning to
lahncate documents, emanating, as it were, from the Soviet Government.

The latest Note of the English Government to the Soviet was based on the
forged documents of German counter-espionage. The Note quotes a speech by
Eemn purporting to have been delivered by him on the 8th Julv in the
Communist International. Radek establishes the fact that on the 8th July
Lenin did not speak and, moreover, did not utter the words ascribed to him in
the Note. Further, Radek establishes the falsehood of the quotations in the
Note from the work of Stalin in the Komintern (Communist International.
Trans). Stalin has never worked in the Komintern. The rest of the informa
tion of the English Minister for Foreign Affairs is based on the forged docu
ments of German spies.
Against the Polish Ultimatum.
Telegrams are being received from a whole series of towns announcing the
formation of mass meetings to protest against the Polish ultimatum. Working
men are takim? part in the demonstrations, also women workers, seldieis of the
Red Army, and young people.
The following resolution was adopted in the Vitebsk Government : “ In
the event of a fresh attempt on the part of the bourgeoisie to invade Soviet
Russia we will as one man stand and defend her.
At Orsh the whole of the garrison took part in a demonstration against
the insolent pretentions of the French and Polish robbers.
The results of Basmachism.
Kokanti, 27th September .—From May to August the Basmachi seized in
the Kokand district 560 houses, carried off 339 horses, 139 bulls, 219 cows, 155
head of milch cattle, looted various household goods worth 3,829, 500 roubles,
and killed 21 peaceable inhabitants.

English Spies in the East.
In the Tashkent “ Izvestiaof the 11th September, Peters discloses the
impudent work of English spies in the East whose efforts are devoted to impair
ing the authority of the Soviet dominion (vlast) in India, Persia, and other
countries of the East.
He reveals the following interesting event in the activities of English spies
in the East :—
Agents of the English grip on Persia, Mursal, Ibrahimov, and others
entered Persia—mutilated text—to establish a connection with the Komintern
and a struggle with the Persian Government. In several respects the work of
the English spies proved to be not without success. They succeeded in grouping

The reports cover the period of the week ending 1 January 1921 to the period ending 1 January 1923. They are initially issued by the British Military Mission, Meshed [Mashhad, also known as Mashad or Meshad], and later by the Military Attaché, Meshed. The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
