their people round a certain Zabardast Khan. After the murder of Reza Khan
(Intelligence Summary 13) Zabardast Khan with the help of Mursal collected
some 300 bandits and started a rebellion against the Persian Government,
strenuously endeavouring to obtain at the same time help from the Komintern.
He declared himself a revolutionary and hurriedly sent special men to—text f
mutilated—connection with the Komintern with the object of obtaining from
them weapons and financial assistance. He adverted with a similar request to
the Russian military authorities and Special Departments along the frontier.
His applications were refused and he was made to understand that Soviet
Russia had only peaceful intentions towards Persia with whom she can only
deal along legal lines.
When the English spies under whose direction Zabardast Khan was acting,
received these sorrowful tidings they deserted his detachment and fled to
Persia. He himself, threatened by Persian regular troops, crossed the Soviet
frontier where he was quickly disarmed and interned. Later, when the fact
was established that his adventure proceeded under the auspices of English
agents-provocateurs and had as its sole object the compromising of the Soviet
Government, Zabardast Khan and his nearest accomplices were quickly
arrested and confined in the Tashkent jail.
A DISPUTE SETTLED.
Conversations have been carried on in Warsaw between the representa
tive of the Russian Communist Eederalised Soviet Republic, Qara Khan,
and the representative of the Polish Government, Dombski, relative to the
difficulties which have lately arisen with respect to the relations of the two
Governments.
As a result of these conversations both sides have entered into an agree
ment on all questions in dispute and which were adumbrated in the °late
exchange of Notes.
And so it ought to be.
An agreement has been signed as between our representative and the
Polish Governments.
In political circles in Warsaw it is said that the Polish Government has
agreed to expel all Russian Whiteguards finding asylum in Poland.

About this item
- Content
The item consists of Part 1 of the subject file 1341/1921: 'Meshed Consular & Intelligence Diaries (1921-1922)'.
It contains numbered periodical (mainly weekly) reports relating to Persia [Iran], initially each called an 'Intelligence Summary' and later called a 'Meshed Intelligence Diary'. The reports cover the period of the week ending 1 January 1921 to the period ending 1 January 1923. They are initially issued by the British Military Mission, Meshed [Mashhad, also known as Mashad or Meshad], and later by the Military Attaché, Meshed. The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
