The following are items taken from the military news in this issue :—
There w r as a “ grandiose ” meeting at Charjni to celebrate the 4th year of
the overthrow of Tsarism.. Sailors of the Amu Darya Naval flotilla, Mussulman
elements of the Bokharan Red Army, elements of the 1 st Turkistan Ride
Division.
On the 14th of'March there was a ceremonious inauguration of a Red Army
Club for Engineer Detachments in the fortress of Kushk.

The paper mentions the insufficiency of supplies in certain frontier posts
and measures to cope with the same. The peasants of the village of Michailov
organised a meeting and collected meat, milk, etc., which were sent to one of
these posts.” The men of the Red Army receiving these gifts did not know how
to thank the senders for their attention and care.
A rifle regiment in Askhabad has taken land for gardening to improve their
table.
The men of one of the batteries of the Heavy Artillery Division are mentioned
also of the 3rd Squadron of the frontier cavalry division.
A. man of the Mechanical Transport Detachment writes to his wife of his
intention to desert to Samara. His letter happened to be intercepted by the
commission for combating desertion. He received 30 days’ hard labour in the
Garrison Gaol.

Itosta, 22nd March .—Order No. 18 of the Semiriechia District Revolutionary
Committee relative to the re-turn of property plundered by the Qirqiz was read
out at an assembly in the village of the Trotski Vopalski District. It was
received by the villagers in deep silence. Nevertheless, in consequence of this,
during the night in front of the village Revolutionary Committee’s quarters
there arose a considerable pile of samovars, carpets, numnas, vestments and
various utensils and apparel.
Lately the Semiriechian Extraodinary Commission discovered a White
Guard Organisation with Colonel Voikov at the head. In connection with this
were arrested some 800 men, 50 rifles were discovered and many cartridges.
| Several Cossacks had already prepared biscuits preparatory to a flight to join
Dutov.
