and should the completion of the work be long delayed the
expense will be proportionately increased.
East Pier-
260. This w T ork was completed, as reported to Govern
ment, on the 27th November 1865,
and suffered no injury during the
monsoon, which was, however, unusually light; at the same
time the work seems likely to withstand any sea which it is
likely to encounter.
The Railway line has been kept up with a view to
strengthen the pier, should this prove necessary in the course
of the ensuing monsoon.
Work executed during the year : 13,895 tons of stone
tipped from boats and waggons. The expenditure includes
amount paid to Sind Railway Company for depreciation and
use of their permanent way for the previous year, and appor
tionment of stone and repairs of stone trucks.
