above the level of the road, by surrounding it with basalt
polished steps of 12 // tread and 6" rise, with a midway landing
of 3 feet, and providing 4 drinking basins on four of the
sides of the octagon. Eight lamps are also erected opposite
the sides of the octagon. The work is completed.
