16. On the 16th of March 1866 Dr F. S. Stedman, Pro
fessor of Medicine in the Grant Medical College, having gone
to Europe on sick leave, Dr. A. N. Hojel was appointed to
act in the vacant appointment.
17. In both Marathi and Gujarati Translators’ office
changes have occurred, Mr. Mahadeo Govind Ranade, LL.B.»
having been appointed to act as Marathi Translator for
Major T. Candy, gone to Europe on sick leave, and Rao
Saheb Mahiputram Rupram Lilkant having been appointed
Gujarati Translator, vice Mr. T. B. Curtis previously pro
moted to be Educational Inspector. In short the above list
shows a remarkable disturbance during the year in the
superior appointments of the department.
