THE CIVIL ARCHITECT.
17. The principal works under the Civil Architect during 1862-63
were the widening of the Apollo Pier, the reclamations at Apollo and
Moody Bays, with the enlargement of the General Post Office and
Mint Buildings.
18. The Apollo Pier was enlarged from a width of 75 feet to a width
of 150 feet, at a cost of

21. Several small irrigational works have been in progress in
Dharwar. Of lines of communication in progress or repair the most impor
tant is the Hooblee road towards Sudashewghur, where it waits for the
construction of a port and adequate approaches before its full advantages
can be felt.
22. Works on the Tinai Ghaut road, which connects Dharwar, with
Goa, have been retarded by a sickly season and the consequent want of
labour.
AHMEDABAD AND KAIRA.
23. Kaira which until lately was under the charge of the Executive
Engineer of Ahmedabad was made, in the course of 1862-63, a separate
charge. In Ahmedabad
