Revenue Survey.
CONSERVANCY AND MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION.
17. The operations of the Tanna and Rntnagherry survey also em
braced the Collectorates of Poona and Ahmednuggur. Generally the work
was very satisfactory and creditable to the Officers by whom it was
supervised.
18. In Khandeish the season was the most unhealthy on record. The
work done, however, was not much short in any respect of the work done in
the preceding year. Great progress had been made in the settlement of
boundary disputes in Government villages, and between British villages on
the one hand, and those of the Nizam on the other.
19. In Guzerat the Survey Officers had great difficulties to contend
with in the character of the season and of the country operated in. Never
theless a very good out-turn of work was shown. Government considers
the able and efficient manner in which the several Officers of the Northern
Division performed their duties during 1881-62 “to be very creditable to
those Officers, and deserving commendation.” In the South Maratha
Country, where only three measuring establishments were employed during
the year, the result was satisfactory, and most creditable to the Superin
tendent and to all the Officers in charge of the measuring and classing
operations.
20. The following table exhibits a general view of the proceedings of
the three surveys contrasted with the preceding year 1860-61 :—
