APPENDIX TO JUDICIAL REPORT.
The Third Clause provides for the service of notice by the Company before breaking
up streets or opening drains.
The Fourth Clause enacts that streets and drains are not to be broken up except
under superintendence of persons having control of the same, and provides that if the
persons having such control fail to superintend, the Company may proceed with the work.
The Fifth Clause provides that streets, &c. broken up are to be reinstated without
delay.
The Sixth Clause imposes a penalty on the Company for delay in re-instating
streets, &c.
The Seventh Clause provides that in case of delay or omission the persons having
the control of the streets, &c. may re-instate and recover the expenses from the Company
in manner therein mentioned.
The Eighth Clause empowers the Company’s officer to enter buildings to inspect
meters, &c. and to ascertain the quantity of Gas supplied.
The Ninth Clause provides for the recovery by the Company of rents due for Gas.
The Tenth Clause empowers the Company to take away pipes in all cases in which
the Company are authorised to cut off the supply of Gas.
The Eleventh Clause provides that meters are not liable to distraint for rent, &c.
The Twelfth Clause imposes penalties for the fraudulent use of Gas.
The Thirteenth Clause imposes penalties for wilfully damaging pipes, extinguishing
public lamps, &c.
The Fourteenth Clause provides that every person accidentally damaging pipes, &c.
shall pay to the Company such sum not exceeding

think reasonable.
The Fifteenth Clause imposes penalties on the Company for corrupting water.

pany being liable to indictment for nuisance, &c.
