CHAPTEE VIII.—ARCHEOLOGY.
Archeological Survey of Western India.
"The Superintendent toured for the most pirt in Central India, but he also paid visits to
Gujarat and the Deccan. The most important work of restoration was that of the Gol Gumbaz
at Bijdpur on which Rs. 5,099 were spent. Repairs to the Ibrahim Rauza and Jani Masjid
were continued at a cost of Rs. 3,833. Three mosques and tombs at Ahmedabad were repaired
rat a cost of Rs. 3,675. Rs. 3,000 were spent on repairs to the Buddhist stupa, Thai Mir Rukan
in Hyderabad. Altogether on ordinary and special repairs a sum of Rs. 43,620 was expended
from Provincial and Imperial grants. During the year special attention has been paid to
photographs, 189 negatives having been obtained. There were five finds of treasure trove during
the year. A large metal image standing over 3 feet high, which the Superintendent believes to
'Represent Brahma with his four heads or faces, was dug up near Mirpur Kh4s in Thar and Pfirkar.
Several additions have been made to the Superintendent's archseological collection, and a local
museum has been initiated in the Nagarkhana opposite the Gol Gumbaz at Bij&pur.

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. during the financial year 1904-05. The report was printed at the Government Central Press, Bombay [Mumbai] in 1905.

The report is divided into two parts. Part I contains a report ‘SUMMARY’ (ff 116-124). Part II comprises chapters I-IX (ff 69-112).
