establishment was employed on the measurement of Pdrdi lands and the partition*of S ^f c ^
under Civil Courts' decrees. Temporary establishments were also entertained for miscell 6 ^ 68
special work in Dhdrwar, Belgaum, Kdnara and Ratn^giri Districts. The Survey Daff^ 0118
establishment calculated revised assessments for 586 villages and prepared Akdrbanl ^
K£imd£r Taktas for these and for 240 other villages. The Southern Maratha States C §

The work of the three survey parties was confined to theKakar and Shikarpur Trf]
and comprised the measurement of 61, 888 acres against 74,402 acres in the previous y ear U J^ S
average area per party was 20,629 acres against 23,216. The decrease is due to the f \

2. Settlements.
1.—Presidency Proper.
In the Northern Division revision settlement proposals were submitted for all the Gov
ment and talukdari villages of the Jhdlod Mahdl. Revised rates were announced in the 6 ^'
Government villages of the Dobad Taluka, involving an increase in the assessment of R s q nni
or 8’75 per cent. In the Central Division, settlement proposals were submitted for the Nand l
Tdluka of the West Khiindesh District and for 4 alienated villages. Settlements were it 1
duced during the year in 13 Government and inam villages in Sdtdra, Ndsik and W^f
Khandesh, and resulted in an increase in the assessment of Rs. 1,646. In the South 6 -
