2.—Sind.
1 . The gross receipts amounted to Rs. 7,93,940 against Rs 7,35,598 showing an increase
of Rs 58,342 over the previous year's revenue. Under the Stamp Act the receipts were
Rs 3 88 434, an increase of Rs. 49,619 chiefly due to improvement m trade and ^
speculation in Karachi. ‘ The total charges amounted to Rs, 26,599 against Rs. 29,271 i n
the preceding year, the decrease is due to less refunds.
2 . The number of stamp vendors increased by 5 to 308. Discount amounted to
Rs. 15,102 against Rs. 14,722 in 1908-1909.
3 Emhty-one documents were dealt with under section 35 and 39 eases were instituted
under other sections against 90 and 75 respectively last year. The aggregate amount of duty
and penalties realised was Rs. 1,413 against Rs. 4,717 m the preceding year.
4 . The number of prosecutions was 8 against 4 in the year preceding. ^Out of 10 persons
brought to trial, 9 were convicted. The amount of fine imposed was Rs. 125.
5 . Out of 4 reported cases, enquiry was instituted in 1 only and Rs. 80 were recovered as
additional Court duty.
13. Income Tax.
For details seethe Annual Report on Income Tax and tables under Income Tax, printed in Part IV (5) of the
Statistics of British India.
The final demand, including penalties and arrears, amounted in all to Rs. 46,97,926 against
Rs. 47 70,838 in the previous year. Collections, including realizations from the tax on salaries
and pensions, fell to Rs. 46,92,752.
14- Forests.
The total income from forests for the financial year increased from Rs. 35,54,860 to
Rs. 36,41,959 and the expenditure from Rs. 20,60,026 to Rs. 20,70,519.

1 . District Funds.
1. Information regarding District Local Boards' Funds will be found in Chapter III.
2 . The opening balance was Rs. 29,37,686. Receipts amounted to Rs. 68,82,422 and
charges to Rs. 69,12,221, showing increases of Rs. 4,83,869 and Rs. 2,42,929 respecivey
chiefly due to increased Government grants for education and increased expenditure thereon.
The closing balance was Rs. 29,07,888.
3 . The accounts of all District Funds for 1908-1909 were audited and the audit of tt 0
accounts of the District Local Boards of Kdnara, Hyderabad, Thar and P^rkar, Satara, he o a '
Bij&pur, Broach and Thana for the year 1909-1910 has been completed. Each of the wen
five funds is solvent.
Cantonment Funds.
1. The opening
was Rs. 1,41,431.
2. Other Funds.

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. during the financial year 1909-10.

The report is divided into two parts. Part I contains a report ‘SUMMARY’ (ff 139-153). Part II (ff 154-208) is comprised of chapters I-IX.
