Offenders produced before
Criminal Courts,
188. 331 persons were arrested by the Police,
and t)77 persons appeared before the Criminal Courts
on summonses and warrants.
189. The number of miscellaneous cases before the Criminal Courts during
Miscellaneous cases. t] f y ear n ^ r re P ort was 37 > involving 147 persons,
of whom lob were convicted, 4 acquitted and dis
charged, and 7 otherwise dealt with. These cases include proceedings in main
tenance cases and for summary recovery of municipal taxes or cesses.
190. Five persons were tried by the Court of Sessions during the year.
Sessions trials ^ Somali was tried for culpable homicide not amount
ing to murder, having caused the death of another
Somali in a scuffle; he was convicted of voluntarily causing hurt, and sentenced
to six months’ rigorous imprisonment. An Arab lad was tried for committing
an unnatural offence and was acquitted. A Hindu butler was tried for attempt
to murder and was acquitted. Two Arabs were tried for smuggling arms from
Singapore, one of them was convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of Es. 50 and
the other acquitted.
191. The punishments awarded during the year by the Court of Sessions
