As this is the first trade report furnished by me as Consul Province of
General at Tabreez, I think it well to give a short description of Azarbaijan.
the Persian province of Azarbaijan, of which Tabreez is the
capital, noticing its population, its products, and trade capabilities,
in addition to the ordinary trade repoit.
The province of Azarbaijan is situated in tne north-west of
Persia, and is bounded on the north by the Transcaucasus pro
vince of Russia ; on the west by the 1 urkish pashaliks of Erzeroum
and Van ; on the east it is partly bounded by the Caspian Sea,
and partly by Persian territory ; and on the south entirely by
