Content

A copy of a letter from the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. to Harford Jones, Resident at Bagdad [Baghdad]. The letter expresses approval of Jones's recent conduct, refers to the situation in Afghanistan, and delays the instructions that Jones should travel to the Court of Zemaun Shah [Zamān Shāh Durrānī] at Caboul [Kabul].
