Ihe MANCHESTER GUARDIAN of March 30, 1905, points out that
“ The keeping of PERSONAL INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS is very apt to be neglected ”
and recommends Harley’s Investor’s Complete Account Book as a remedy for this
neglect, adding that : “ Ihe publishers offer, for inclusive annual fees, to start the
account book, and to keep it up to date for any investor, but the book itself is
so simply arranged, and the directions and forms contained in it are so easily
understood, that even very indolent and unbusinesslike persons could keep their
accounts in it for themselves without much effort.” ^
The above is typical of notices 0 / Harley’s Investor’s Account Book and the other

The FINANCIAL NEWS of May30, 1905, in the course of an interesting
article on the Scientific Management of Investor’s Accounts, deals at length with the
methods and business of the Investment Registry, and says: The Investment
Registry, Limited, of 2 , Waterloo Place, was founded a quarter of a century ago.
i he o oject of the institution is two-fold : ( 1 ) to advise clients as to suitable invest
ments when they have their capital in hand, and ( 2 ) to keep them advised from
time to time of any changes which may occur in their securities in the market either
m a favourable or unfavourable sense. No matter what securities any investor
mav have placed his money in, the Registry is prepared to take his account in hand
and generally supervise it. . . . The number of separate accounts kept by the
Investment Registry reaches several thousands, and the work is carried out intel
ligently and regularly, and without a hitch from start to finish. The secret of the
whole thing is systematic co-ordination. The system, in a word, is now as near per
fection as it can be got. . A word must be said of the ‘geographical
