On arrival at Sharjah "by the aeroplane T was met "by
Shaikh Saltan bin Sagar and the British Agent lhan Bahadur Shaikh
Isa bin Atdullatif, and other merchants• Thenje I proceeded to
and'stayed at the house of KJifiin Bahadur Shaikh ibdul Latif where
he gave a dinner at which Shaikh Sultan was also invited. In the
morning Khan Bahadur Shaikh Isa called to his jlace Shaikh Sultans
Secretary Abdulla "bin Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Peris and we both
talked to him on the subject of the lease for ihe ted oxide, and
two hours later we visited Shaikh Sultan bin S^ar, and after dis
cussion of the subject he signed the agreement in duplicate, but
desired to add to it one more clause that the amount of Rs.&OO/—
1 paid to him on this agreement should not be cliimed back whether the
red oxide will be found suitable to Commander 3 a yldon or not. I
enclose herewith a copy of this agreement* Tie original and the
duplicate have been countersigned by the Britiih Agent Khan B^ ladur
Shaikh Isa bin Abdul Latif. Rs.500 were paid by me to Shaikh Sultan.
When «t Shan Bahadur Shaildi Isa»s place I saw his relation
Abdulrahman bin Hussain who had been sent to Bab al Khali having Just
returned with Shaikh Al Manasir and Shaikh Al iwamir. They could
not go to Rab al KJiali but reimmed from KJianoor. They say that
they saw at Khanoor some of Beni Hajirs and AlMurrae who had fled
from the war because of hunger and thirst they suffered there.
When I was in Sharjah, people there were talking that they were sur
prised as to how Abdulrahman bin iTusain toras able to return from Rab—
al Khali, as they thought he would be killed the Bedous there.
On the next night, Shaikh Sultan bin Sagar invited me to
his place where he gave a big dinner party.
Some Hindus in Sharjah complained th&t they were finding
trouble on account of want of want of post Office there, and when I
mentioned this to Khan Bahadur Shaikh Isa bin ibdul Xatif, he said
that Shaikh Sultan was greedy. When Shaikh Saltan came to me, I
also spoke to him about this and aaid that his country would bo
advanced and prospered if he had post and telegraph office etc., and
he said he would be glad to have them* If political Agent wisnes
to discuss these matter with Shaikh Sultan, I would like to be pre
sent. I have other confidential things abcut Shaikh Sultan which
I would speak to you.
I apoke to Shaikh Sultan and others that if they hevd a
Doctor, Dr.Holmes would be ready to go.
prince Shaikh Baud reached Riyadh on 8th September, and
he sent back again 78 motor cars to bring Bin Baud and party.
