. TJ 16 Nall) of Quetta writes to His Highness, Syud Hern Mahomed has iust
arrived from Cabul, and states that the Ameer and Sirdar Yacoob Khan are
on most friendly terms*—the latter having been made Governor of Cabul
^lahomed TJslum Khan and Mahomed Hussein Khan, and Mahomed Hussun
Khan, and a fourth brother were in prison, and had been fined forty-two lakhs
of rupees. Mahomed Sliurreef Khan had been sent to Jellalabad. Mahomed
Alum Khan, a servant of the Ameer’s, had gone to Balkh, and the Moostowfee
to Herat. Pussund Khan was to go to Cahul from Herat on Sirdar l r acoob
Khan’s safe conduct. Sirdar Yacoob Khan, it was stated, was about to pro
ceed to Seistan with a large force.
Sirdar Buktawur Khan, Baroozai of Sebu, writes to His Highness in a
friendly manner regarding Wusseer Khan, Bosah, stating that he had refused
to allow them to settle in his country as he felt sure their grievances would
be redressed as soon as represented. Buktawur Khan also informed His High
ness that the feud between him and the Rujjucks still existed, and that in the
last skirmish two lives were lost on both sides.
Sirdar Alla Dinna Koord has written to me to the effect that, if not
acknowledged by His Highness with rank and distinction as head of the tribe,
he proposes migrating to some other country. This letter has not been
answered vet.

Diary by the Political Agent at Khelat, from the 21^ to the ftlth August 1871.
Last week I mentioned having received a letter from Sirdar Alla Dinna
Koord. My reply w T as to the effect that His Highness had repeatedly offered
him favorable terms, and I had given him good advice. That as he had neither
accepted the one nor attended to the other, I could not interfere further in his
arrangements, and that whatever happened was in his ow r n hands. Copy of
letter is attached.
Letter received on the ’iZrd August from Lushko, Darogah of Nooshhy, to His Highness
the Khan of Khelat.
After salaams, —News has arrived from Seistan and Chaga that plunderers
have left the former place and are en route to Nooshky. The force is large—there
are also Jungee sowars (cavalry). Sirdar Abdool Rahman and myself, after
consulting on the matter, sent spies in two different directions; they have not
yet returned, but all people coming from Chaga state that the force is large and
rapidly moving towards us. In Nooshky there are no people, except the sirdars
tribe, the Ruckshanees, and a few Minguls. Owing to famine every one
has gone to Gurm Syil. If this force arrives it will be a reproach to your
Government. I have neither money nor means to collect people, so please quickly
issue instructions to the Surpuras and Soomalanees who live in Girdgab and
Goorgenah to collect all their fighting men and give me assistance, if necessary.
Should their services not be required I will let them know. There are no flocks
or cattle now in Nooshky. If the force from Seistan arrives they will plunder
[ every one’s household property, but should they, by God’s blessing, return empty-
handed, all the Nooshky people will be saved. Your Highness should make
