Lall Mahomed Khan,* a Peshkhidmut of the Ameer, who was sent to hrin"
the Cabul army from Fur rah, has returned to Cabul
and complained as follows against Sirdar Meer
Afzul Khanf:—
I.—So long as the Cabul army was at Furrah Sirdar Meer Afzul Khan
purchased grain from surrounding districts at cheap prices and sold it to the
army at high rates.
* Cabulee.
f Governor of Furrah.
II-—^-t the time of the departure of the army from Furrah, the Sirdar sent
information to the people residing in the neighbourhood of the road, to the effect
that they should remove themselves to distant places, otherwise they would suffer
much; consequently no man was seen on the road.
HI-—The Sirdar did not make arrangements for carriage, and consequently
all Sepoys were obliged to bring their baggages on their own shoulders as far
as Girishk.
As the. Ameer was previously somewhat annoyed with the Sirdar on
account of his having written a letter to His Highness, expressing his regret at
the death of Sirdar Mahomed Aslum Khan and Sirdar Mahomed Hussein Khan,
and on account of his having gone without permission from Furrah to Canda-
har, His Highness is now much displeased with him owing to the above
complaints brought to his notice by Lall Mahomed Khan, and even in Durbar
His Highness expresses himself vexed with him.
The following troops have been posted at Candahar. The remaining army is
on its way to Cabul under the command of General Daood Shah, who has pro
bably proceeded to-day from this side of Mookur:—
L?/.—Three Infantry Regiments, /.<?., an old Cabulee Regiment at Candahar, a Canda-
haree Regiment, and the Cabulee Regiment, who at the time of the fall of Herat was expelled
from that place by Sirdar Mahomed Yakoob Khan, but was collected at Candahar by General
Sufdur Ali Khan.
%nd .—One Cavalry Regiment.
3iy/.—F our guns of Light Artillery, two guns drawn by mules, and one gun drawn by
bullocks.
The Ameer has sent Mahomed 0osman KhanJ to Candahar, with an order
that he should bring all cash revenue, which the
X Cabulee, a Peshkhidmut. authorities in that place may have realized, to Cabul
to credit it to the Government Treasury.
This man has left for Candahar, but as the authorities in that province have
already reported the scarcity of the growth of grain, it remains to be seen whe
ther or not they will send any money.
A firman has been sent by the Ameer to Mirza Abdool Ali Kiian § to the
effect that, after preparing the accounts ol Girishk
of Girishk and an q Zcmindawur, in consultation with Sirdar Ma
homed Alum Khan || to leave an Agent with
the Sirdar and to come himself to Cabul to render
the accounts (of the said two provinces).
§ Kevenue Agent

homed Khan, Peshawur Governor of
