Sufdar Ali Khan* has reported to the Ameer that the Belooch tribe residing
in the neighbourhood of Khelat, being vexed by the
tyranny of the Governor of Khelat, rebelled and
took possession of some mehals of that province.
Also that they invited Moolla Mahomed Khan,
Belooch, f hut he sent Noordeen Khan, his trusted
Agent, to them, who has been appointed Governor
of Bhag, and that these people are still occupied in raising disturbances, which
are becoming more serious every day. Though Sufdur Ali Khan has not written
anything about the departure of Moolla Mahtfmed Khan from Candahar, it is
reported at Cahul that he has gone to join the above Belooch rebels.

Abstract translation of letter, dated 3rd Rumzan (=17th November 1871), from the Ameer to
the King of Bokhara.
Btjjub Ali Bai Kttkrawul Begee waited on me with your friendly letter,
which gave me extreme pleasure to hear of your health, &c. This man went
as far as Peshawur; and after visiting the friends of his country has returned
and solicited permission to return to Bokhara. As he is now leaving, I have
considered it desirable to write this to you.
By the grace of God you can remain satisfied in every way as regards
affairs in this direction and continue to inform me of your health, &c.

Cahul Diary from 21st to 23rd November 1871.
Cabul Diary from 21st to 23rd November 1871 (inclusive).
As after the death of the son of the late General Keramoorz Khan, Com
mander-in- C hief, no heirs except two widows of the Commander-in-Chief, one
ot whom is at Cabul and the other at Herat, have survived him (the Commander-
in-Chief), the Ameer has considered it desirable that these widows should he
given in marriage to some respectable men, as on account of their youth it will
be difficult for them to live without husbands, and that all the cash property in
their possession belonging to the Commander-in-Chief should he credited to the
Government Treasury. Consequently, by order of the Ameer, Naib Hossein
+ 0£ Punjshcree tribe, younger brother Ali Khan{ went to the house of the Commander-
e T * ur / ian ' in-Chief and called on his family to give up the
whole of the cash property, who gave him a list of—
1. One thousand and nine hundred gold tillas;
!! ll P ees 5,000 cash, which were deposited with a Hindoo for trading purposes;
3. Rupees 15,000 worth of miscellaneous property lately purchased;
4. Rupees 7,000 worth of jewelry;
and said, that there was nothing more in their possession belonging to the Com
mander-m-Chief. With the exception of jewelry, the whole of the above pro-
