Press. —Farukhi, ex-editor of the Tehran
newspaper “ Tufan ”, has been permitiex
to return to Tehran, for which place he le

Parsis .—The new local Parsi Anjuman
has been dissolved for want of support,
and its members are now divided into
two parties, the “ Anjuman-i-Ithadieh-Milli-
Zardushti ” and the “ Young Men’s Zoroas-
trian Association There is much fric
tion between the two parties and Capt.
Manuchahr Dady, the Indian Parsee doctor
in charge of the local Zoroastrian Hospital,
has asked the Bombay Parsee community
to withhold their donations to the Keiman
Zardushti Community.
The following members of the Bombay
Iran League and the Irani Zoroastrian
Anjuman, Bombay, arrived in Kerman
on the 15th May :—
1. Mr. G. K. Nariman, journalist,
2. Mr. P. S. Gazdar, of the Cotton
Industry,
3. Mr. Marker, Financier,
4. Mr. Marker,
the last two being younger brother and son,
respectively, of Khan Bahadur Marker,
C.I.E., O.B.E., of Quetta.
Outlaws. —Zargham-us-Saltaneh has re
turned to Budbar to arrange for the pay
ment of his arrears of revenue, which have
been fixed at Tomans 55,000.
The Officer Commanding Troops has
stated that Mir Barkat has been granted an
amnesty and that he has left Bandar Abbas
for Jask. He has however been called upon
to pay his arrears of revenue.
Lingah.
Military .—The Officer Commanding
Troops, with 25 cossacks, proceeded to
Charak on the 10th of May and returned on
the 12th after installing Shaikh Haroon as
Shaikh there.
On the 24th April, during a mourning
ceremony, a fight resulting in four casual
ties took place in the Town between two local
factions of Ewaziz (Sunnis) and Bahranis
(Shiahs). The following day about 40
Bahranis, followers of Shaikh Ahmed Alim,
werp arrested and punished by the Military
Commander, Naib Mimir-i-Huzur. The
Karmizar reported the matter to Bushir^v
and "Tehran, and orders for the prisoners v |
release were received. A deputation headed
bv Shaikh Ahmed then left for Bushire to
complain against the Naib and to press for
his removal from Lingah.
Bandar Abbas.
Local Officials. —Mushir-i-Afkham, Gov
ernor of the Islands in the Persian Gulf, left
on the 15th May for Bushire en route for
Tehran on “ leave ”. It is not expected
that he will return to Kishm.
Municipality.— The merchants and general
public have protested to the Bais-i-Malieh
against the usurpation by the Governor,
Salar-i-Nizam, of the management of the
Municipality, the local members of which
have resigned and have been replaced by
Government officials.
Outlaws .—It is now an open secret that
Mir Barkat left Bandar Abbas with the
connivance of the Governor and the Officer
Commanding. A later report states that he
has agreed to return and reside quietly at
Minab.
Obituary .—Haji Sayed Husain Lari, the
principal Mullah of Jahrum, died on the
16 th May.
Commercial. —S. S. Braunfels from
Bushire loaded 20 tons of red oxide iromi
Abu Musa on the 30th April, and sailed tor*
Suez.
Charbar.
A fight took place on the 13th May at
Bahu between the followers of Mir Dm
Mohamed and Mir Ahmed Khan in which
one of the former’s men was wounded, ana
two of the latter’s were killed.
On the night of the 23rd-24th April
two shots were fired from the river e^
towards the Telegraph building and pass
el over the barracks. Din Mohamed,
whose men are said to have fired the shots,
