The file consists of correspondence concerning the proposed execution at Hodeida, Yemen, of a Letter of Request issued by a court in Surat, India. It discusses the procedure for serving the summons to the King of Yemen, Imam Yahya bin Muhammad bin Hamid Ud Din [Ḥamīd al-Dīn, Yaḥyā Muḥammad], and to other persons residing in a foreign territory.

Correspondents include: the Acting Chief Commissioner, Aden; the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Foreign and Political Department; and the Secretary to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. , Home Department.
