In the name of Lord the Compassionate & Merciful.
God Le praised who made peace, a blessing for human beings hereby
perpetual peace is made between the English Government and the Arad Tribes
agreeing to the following conditions.
1st Condition :—That the plunder and theft should be given up in land and at Sea
by the Arabs agreeing to these conditions for ever.
2nd: —If any one of the tribes of Arabs agreeing to these conditions practised
plunder and loot without open war-fare on any people in land or at
sea, he is an enemy of mankind and then he should not have a refuge
for his person nor his property and the open war is one which is
declared openly by one Government against another Government and
the murder of people WHEREAS taking away property without
any declaration or the order of a Government is plunder and loot,
3rd :—The Arab tribes who have entered into the treaty, will have a red ensign
containing writing or not as they wish having a white margin, the
breadth of the white margin should be as big as that of the red
portion in the centre as shown on the margin and this will be the
ensign of such conciliatory Arabs who will use it and no other.
4th :—That the conciliatory tribes will remain on their previous state except when
a peace is made between them and the British Government and that
they should not make war on one another and the ensign wall bear
evidence to that only and nothing else.
5th :—That the ships of the conciliatory Arabs shall have each of them a paper
bearing the signature of her Ruler and will contain the name of the
ship, her length, her breadth and capacity. She will have one more
document mentioned wherein will be owner’s name, name of the Captain^
number of crew and arms, port whence started voyage, time and her
destination. Thus if any English ship or any other, stopped her they
should present the two documents.
6th :—If any of the conciliatory Arabs wished to send a messenger to the Agent
of the British Government at the
Persian Gulf
