Northern Division.
During' the year, the accounts of both the canals were amalgamated with effect from
1st April 1909, and the combined project bas been classed under Irrigation Major
Works, under tbe orders of the Government of India.
. The rainfall gauged at Ahmedabad and Parantij was 3133 and 40-33 inches, respectively,
against an average of 29-29 and 31‘00 inches for the past 30 years including that under report-
There was a sufficient supply throughout the monsoon in the Hdthmati River for this small
canal up to the 15th October. At the end of the rabi season, i.e., 15th February 1910, the
discharge fell to 48 cusecs and it then gradually diminished and was only 16 cusecs on t ^

0 (7 at Ahmednagar and 10^ at Bhiloda in 14 hours), and there was a large 111
the river, the water rose to 12*5 feet above the weir crest.
The Sfibarmati River was also in flood about the same time, but no appreciable damage
was caused except in a few places in the Dholka Tdluka where an overflow occurred ana
breached the bunds of some tanks. There were also two large floods in the Khari River, one on
the 27th and the other on the 3rd August, the depth of water being 5*25 and 10’50 tee
respectively over the weir crest at Raipur.
