7. The net local receipts and issues of small silver coins amounted to
Rs. 17,813, and Rs. 47,870, respectively. The demand
was considerable, which is attributed to the Turco-
Italian war, as owing to the blockade of the Turkish Red Sea ports by the
Italians, the trade passed through the Aden Hinterland where these coins are
used in payment of fractions of the Maria Theresa dollars.
8. The net local receipts and issues amounted to
Rs. 3,027 and Rs. 5,996 respectively.
9. The collection of income-tax, exclusive of realization on salaries of
Government officials and interest on Government
securities, amounted to Rs. 65,028, which shows an
increase on the previous year’s receipts by Rs. 600. A comparative statement
showing the receipts and charges for the years 1911-12 and 1912-13 is attached
(Appendix NXII (e) ).

trade and to the sale of two Court-fee stamps of higher denomination.
10. The principal sources from which excise revenue is derived in Aden
. and Perim are shown in Appendix XXII (o) in which
ar1, the realizations of the year are contrasted with those
of 1911-12. The gross receipts amounted to Rs. 1,24,845 against Rs. l,30,S2o
in the preceding year, showing a decrease of Rs. 5,978 which is principally due
to the closing of the distillery for a period of 4 months (mde Government
Resolution, Revenue Department, No. 7522, dated 10th August 1912) and
consequent loss of still-head duty amounting to Rs, 15,013. The establishment
and other contingent charges amounted to Rs. 11,530 against Rs. 10,954 in
the previous year.
There was no offence committed against the A bkari law dming the year.
H. The gross receipts on account of opium amounted to Rs. 2/265
n . against Rs. 2,415 in 1911-12 The number of excise
