Annual administration report of the Aden Settlement, providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Administration of Aden during the financial year 1896-97.
The main body of the report is headed 'PART II'. The first part is not present. Part II of the report is divided into the following sections, some of which are further divided into sub-headings:

- 'V.–REVENUE AND FINANCE' (ff 133-135), consisting of: Imperial Revenue and Finance; Revenue and Finance other than Imperial
- 'VI.–VITAL STATISTICS AND MEDICAL SERVICES' (ff 135-138), consisting of: Births and Deaths; Medical Relief
- 'VII.–INSTRUCTION' (f 138), consisting of: Education; Literature and Press
- 'IX.–MISCELLANEOUS' (f 139).
The remainder of the report consists of appendices (ff 139-140), a statement of meteorological observations (ff 140-141) and a 'REPORT OF STATION HOSPITAL, ADEN FOR THE YEAR 1896' (ff 141-142).
An index listing the headings and sub-headings of the report is on folios 117-118.
